COMMITTEES

1. Assam Government created a Committee under Mohan Chandra Malakar for verification process of rhino horns, stored in various treasuries since 1980.

2. BCCI appointed Markandey Katju as head of a legal panel to help implications of Justice Lodha Committee reforms.

3. Central Board of Direct Taxes constituted a committee under Gopal Mukherjee, to review existing media policy for communicating activities of the board and income tax department.

4. Finance Ministry constituted 11 members committee to suggest steps to promote card payments with an aim to discourage cash transactions. Committee will be headed by Ratan P Watal (Principle Adviser for social sector in NITI Aayog).

5. Forbes world’s 100 richest people in technology ¬ Topped by Microsoft founder Bill Gates with an estimated fortune of $78 billion.India ¬ Wipro Chairman Azim Premji Ranked 13th ($16 Billion) and HCL co¬founder Shiv Nadar Ranked 17th ($11.6 Billion).

6. Government constituted a Committee under Pradeep Kumar Sinha (Cabinet Secretary), on Trade Facilitation (NCTF) to develop pan¬India road map for trade facilitation, in line with World Trade Organisation (WTO’s) Trade Facilitation Agreement (FTA).

7. Government has set up a committee to look at easing policy for e¬commerce companies, including rules for foreign direct investment (FDI). This committee will be headed by Amitabh Kant (CEO of NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog).

8. Government will constitute a Committee headed by Secretary in Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare) and a Technical Committee to be headed by Director of National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology Banguluru (Currently Raghavendra Bhatta), on issues related to Feed and Fodder Development in country.

9. Indian Navy has set¬up a committee under Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Ashok Kumar to find out extent of Scorpene submarine data leak.

10. Mihir Shah committee, which was formed to restructure water agencies (Central Water Commission (CWC) and the Central  Ground Water an it warned against interlinking of rivers and dependence on large dam projects.

11. Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions constituted a Task Force to study cadre structure of organised Group A Central Services. It will be headed by T Jacob.

12. National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) constituted five¬member review committee under Abhinav Bindra to probe Indian shooters’ Poor Performance in Rio Olympic Games 2016.

13. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) constituted Tarun Ramadorai committee to study various facets of household finance in India and benchmark India’s position against both the peer countries and advanced countries.

14. Shashi Shekhar Committee submitted its report about damage caused to the Yamuna flood plains due to World Culture Festival organised by Sri Sri Ravishankar Led Art Of Living (AOL) in March 2016 along River Yamuna in New Delhi.

15. T V S N Prasad committee on alternatives to pellet guns submitted its report. Committee was formed after casualties caused by pellet guns during ongoing unrest in Kashmir valley.
